Recent Changes

After more than 13 years, I have made the decision to step out of Peak Performance Training (PPT) and go in a slightly different, yet similar, direction.

Most of you probably already know this, but PPT was the company I ran with with my long-time business partner, Don Schlenbecker.  Not only have we run PPT together since 2007, we began working together back in 2003 when Don was my boss at the Lincolnshire Tennis & Fitness Club.

Don was my first mentor in this business and the one who gave me my first chance when I was fresh out of grad school and wasn’t sure what to do with my life.  Truth be told, it was only supposed to be a brief stop until I “figured things out.”  Well, after 17 years in the game, I guess I had it figured out on day one.  I’ll forever be grateful for that opportunity and thank you.

However, Don isn’t going anywhere and PPT is still running strong.  If you happen to be the parent of a youth athlete and are near Elk Grove Village, Don has transformed his garage into a fantastic sports performance training center and I would highly recommend that you check it out.  He always has and continues to do it the right way and for the right reasons.

So why am I leaving?  I guess it could be best summed up with a conversation I had with a client a couple of years ago.

We had been working together for just over a year and it appeared as though this client had hit a plateau.  It had also become fairly obvious that it wasn’t due to a lack of exercise or anything training-related.  At this point, I suggested that perhaps she consider getting some help with her nutrition and possibly looking into some sleep enhancing techniques.

The next sentence out of her mouth basically blew me away…..”Do you know anyone who does that?”

And then the lightbulb finally went off in my head.  If someone that I had been working closely with for over a year doesn’t even know what I do, then someone who doesn’t know me almost certainly wouldn’t!!

It was right then and there I knew something had to change.  My message concerning who and how I could help clearly was not resonating, and thus, Scott Klasen Fitness & Wellness was born.

To set aside any confusion, yes, I am still doing in-home personal training and coaching.  It is still the bulk of what I do. I love doing it and, at this point in time, I have no plans to stop.

I have also been providing in-depth nutrition and behavioral change coaching, as well as sleep optimization and stress management coaching.  I guess you could call it a more overall well-rounded approach aimed not only to improve one’s fitness level, but their overall health and wellness in general.

In addition, while the majority of my coaching is still done in person, I have been doing all of the above online and virtually.  Not only has this provided flexibility and a very nice change of pace, it’s proved effective as well.

So in a nutshell, that’s what I’m up to now.  I will be creating more new content in the months to come, but for the remainder of this year, I’ll mainly be re-posting articles I had previously written on the old site.  If some look familiar, that would be why.

With that said, I hope you head over to scottklasen.com sometime and check it out.  There on the homepage you can subscribe to my mailing list.  Out of respect for your email inboxes, I will not be migrating any previous contacts over.  So if you’d like to recieve my emails, you’ll have to sign up. I’m truly starting from scratch!

Finally, thank you for taking the time to read this and for all of your continued support – especially during these unprecedented times.  Please take care of yourself and stay well.

All the best,

Scott
